Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse and Gürzenich Cologne: Hotspots for national and international medical professionals

It was a conference of records: the internationally rotating World Congress of Pathologists, held this year in the Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse, attracted more delegates, exhibitors and participants than ever before.

For the third time in succession, international scientists, physicians and experts discussed all the latest findings from research and practice on the topic of Hodgkin's Lymphoma, at the Gürzenich in Cologne.

More than 4,500 participants came to the World Congress of Pathologists, organized by the German Section of the International Academy of Pathology and the European Society of Pathology (ESP). It was held from 24th to 30th September 2016 in the Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse under the title "XXXI International Congress of the International Academy of Pathology and the 28th Congress of the European Society of Pathology". The total of more than 3,200 delegates travelled to the event from 104 countries, among others, the USA, Russia and other parts of Europe. In addition, 90 companies participated in the exhibition accompanying the congress-in total space of 1,150 sq.m..

"Together with the Cologne Convention Bureau, with optimal infrastructures and general conditions, we were able to make a convincing presentation and already fill the international delegation and the German department of the International Academy of Pathology on its first site inspection for the City of Cologne and the Congress Center", said Bernhard Conin, Managing Director of KölnKongress. And the organizers' expectations were not disappointed: "We received a lot of positive feedback, all the participants felt very comfortable - this first joint congress was one of the most successful in the history of the IAP", summarized Martina Schmidt, Managing Director of the IAP (International Academy for Pathology German Section, Bonn).

At the 10th International Hodgkin Symposium (ISHL 10), the world's largest international and interdisciplinary congress on the theme of Hodgkin's lymphoma, around 850 participants from all over the world met at the Gürzenich in Cologne. Specialists from the fields of hematology/oncology, molecular biology, immunology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and pediatric hematology/ oncology discussed new therapeutic strategies and the use of innovative substances. Since 1986, the symposium has been held every three years. For the third time in succession, from 22nd – 25th October, 2016, it was held in the Gürzenich in Cologne. KölnKongress is looking forward to the next event in Autumn 2018. With its six characteristic rooms of varying sizes, equipped with state-of-the-art event technology, the Gürzenich is an ideal venue for such international congresses. With exhibition space of 2,500 sq.m., the two spacious foyers also offer enough space for congress-accompanying exhibitions. Last but not least, the location at the heart of Cologne's city centre  is a big plus for this special location.
