Die Bastei

In a sophisticated interior, 80 to 200 people will find stylish space at the reception, at the dinner or
at the company event in the BASTEI. Also for anniversaries, club parties, weddings or birthday
parties, the architectural gem of reinforced concrete and glass is ideal. Here you have all of Cologne
in a panoramic view - the skyline with old town and cathedral, the Rheinbogen, the Cologne bridges
and the Rheinpark vis à vis. With this look every event promises to be special.
The current building, once part of the medieval fortifications around Cologne, towers over the Rhine
bend. Rebuilt in 1924 to the plans of the Cologne architect Wilhelm Riphahn and solemnly opened
on 22 October of the same year, the former corner tower henceforth bears the name "DIE BASTEI"
(based on Bastion) and has long been considered the "most elegant restaurant" in the Rhineland.
Destroyed in 1943, reconstruction takes place in the 1950s according to old plans and under the
same architect. On December 5, 1958 DIE BASTEI is reopened in its present form.
